A hot air generator is a piece of industrial or residential heating equipment used to produce a consistent, controlled flow of heated air for various processes or space heating applications.
Core Function
The fundamental function of a hot air generator is to convert energy from a fuel source (gas, oil, biomass, or electricity) into thermal energy, which is then transferred to an airstream. Unlike systems that heat water or steam (like boilers), these generators heat air directly and circulate it using a fan or blower system.
Operating Principle
The process typically involves the following steps:
Combustion/Heating: Fuel is burned in a combustion chamber (or electric elements are energized).
Heat Exchange: The heat produced is transferred to incoming fresh air. This is done through a heat exchanger in indirect-fired systems, ensuring clean air delivery without contact with combustion gases. In direct-fired systems, all combustion products are mixed directly with the airstream, which is more efficient but only suitable when the flue gases are not harmful to the end product or environment.
Circulation: A powerful blower or fan pushes the heated air out into ducts or directly into the required space or process area.
